tips for making the best of your family session

WHAT TO EXPECT

Come ready to play, be silly, and have a realistic expectation for kid's behaviors. If you're having fun, then so will your kids. The most meaningful images and genuine smiles are when families are engaged and interacting WITH each other. (Don't worry I will take some posed ones too). There might be complaining and tantrums, but don't worry, it's normal and remember - it's a photo not a video!

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Try everything on. Steam away wrinkles. Check nail polish, and that skin is free of tattoos etc. Make sure kids are well-rested and fed. Tell them we are going to go have fun with your friend, Mrs. Katie. Bribery for a treat or playground time usually works wonders.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

Please remove sunglasses, phones from pockets, hair bands and watches, wipe the kids faces clean, and double check everyone's hair and clothing. I'll take it from here!

STYLING TIPS

Start with the hardest person to dress (usually mom). Choose a color palette and go from there. Try to coordinate without being matchy-matchy. Mix solids, big and little prints, textures, layers, accessories.

Lay the outfits out and take a photo to visualize how everything will look together. Don't forget about nice shoes (barefoot is welcome too.) Dress appropriately for the season, weather, and location. Be true to your style!

Avoid: looking like twins, neon colors, printed cartoons and text.
